The Act is concerned with regulating certain conditions of services of sales promotions employees engaged in pharmaceutical industries. Under the provisions of this Act, the employers are required to allow earned leave or medical leave to sales promotion employees, issue appointment letters to these employees and to maintain certain records in respect of these employees.
By an amendment in the Act, the provisions of Workmen's Compensation Act, Industrial Disputes Act, Minimum Wages Act, Maternity Benefit Act, Payment of Bonus Act and the Payment of Gratuity Act have been made applicable to sales promotions employees.
ADMINISTRATIVE MACHINERY
The Inspecting Officers/inspectors of the Labour Department enforce the provisions of the Act in their respective territorial jurisdictions assigned to them under the administrative control of the respective Labour Officer, Assistant Labour Commissioners and Deputy Labour Commissioners.
PENALTY
The penalty provided for violation of the provisions of the Act is fine up to Rs. 1,000/-.
