The Indian Boilers Act, 1923 was enacted with the objective to provide mainly for the safety of life and property of persons from the danger of explosions of steam boilers and for achieving uniformity in registration and inspection during operation and maintenance of boilers in India.
Accordingly, IBR boilers are required to be registered and certified to run under the Boilers Act, 1923 read with Indian Boilers Regulations, 1950 (amended up to date). Boilers are inspected annually to check all the safety provisions related to boilers and its accessories and certificate to run a boiler is renewed for 12 months from the date of last expiry date of the boiler.
