DIRECTORATE OF INDUSTRIAL SAFETY & HEALTH (DISH)
MAIN FUNCTIONS OF DIRECTORATE OF INDUSTRIAL SAFETY & HEALTH
This Directorate looks after the enforcement of laws governing occupational health, safety, welfare, work-environment, leave with wages and working hours etc. in factories licenced/covered under the provisions of the Factories Act, 1948, the Delhi Factories Rules, 1950 and allied legislations.
Directorate is also entrusted with the enforcement of Safety & Health measures for construction workers under the Building and Other Construction (Regulation of Employment & Conditions of Service) Workers Act, 1996 and Rules framed thereunder.
ORGANIZATION SET UP
The Director, Industrial Safety & Health is assisted by Deputy Directors (ISH), Assistant Directors (ISH) and Assistant Director-Medical-(ISH). Director (ISH) who heads the Directorate works under the administrative control of Secretary cum Commissioner (Labour) of Government of NCT of Delhi.

APPLICABILITY OF THE FACTORIES ACT, 1948
The Factories Act, 1948 applies to premises wherein manufacturing process as defined under the provisions of the said Act is carried out with employment of 10 or more workers with the aid of power or 20 or more workers without the aid of power in the manufacturing process.
